THE EMBODIED CONSCIOUSNESS IMMERSION

6 DAY EVENT: Oct 13 - Oct 18 2019 | Berkeley, California

The Embodied Consciousness Immersion is a six-day experiential event exploring the intersection of somatic psychology, social justice, spirituality and consciousness research.

Led by world-renowned somatic facilitators and phenomenological researchers, this immersion seeks to provide practical tools for holistic healing and develop skills for self- and transpersonal actualization. As a community anchored in open-hearted intention, through this event we aim to arrive more fully in embodied relationship, both with ourselves and each other.

Throughout this immersion, we will address the developmental, socio-cultural, and psychosomatic obstacles that obstruct our ability to find fullness through embodiment. We will introduce a range of tools and technologies to help cultivate self-awareness, self-confidence, self-control, and self esteem; as a result, these cultivated self-states can empower healthy boundaries, emotional regulation, empathy, enhanced cognitive processing and intuition, easeful decision-making, feelings of authenticity and a sense of being at home in the body.

Merleau-Ponty writes, “To be an experience is to hold inner communication with the world, the body and other people, to be with them instead of being beside them.”  As we attune to being of and with our inner landscape, we begin to observe the obstacles to relationship dissolve, and the bridges of interconnections to others, the environment, and beyond appear. Addressing the pandemic of loneliness, otherness, and isolation, we will proceed along these bridges toward transpersonal actualization. This actualization is no less than the process of transcending the limiting self-concepts and negative beliefs that frame the experience of human suffering, moving us ever closer to a world that is beyond false division — one that is consciously embodied.

WHAT IS EMBODIED CONSCIOUSNESS?

Embodiment is our direct experience of the self as it is mediated by the psychological, emotional, social and physiological processes that intersect in the body. If the body is the form through which consciousness speaks, then learning to listen to the inner language of the body is primary to the task of healing, self-actualization and human fulfillment.

Just as we navigate the terrain of our external environment through its textures, curves, temperatures, densities, hills and valleys, so too we can explore the inner landscape and become intimate with the layers, flavors, and unique qualities of our self. Becoming consciously embodied is the process of attuning to the vibrant inner landscape so as to be more awake in ourselves and more alive in our relationships.
